To double the income of farmers and to invest Rs 6,339 billion

A committee of the government has said in its latest report that to make the situation of doubling the actual income of the farmers by 2022-23, additional investment of Rs 6,339 billion from both public and private sector needs to be made. At present, the level of public investment in states like Assam, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Punjab and Odisha is lower than the national average.




The report says that in case of private investment, backwardness of the less developed states of the eastern region is intact, which underlines the need for the development of financial and other infrastructure. Some such measures have been suggested in the first four sections of the committee report for doubling the income of the farmers led by Ashok Dalvi, National Rainfed Area Authority.
