Jaipur Fire At Indian Oil Depot , Sitapura IOC Catches Fire

Three persons have died and at least 90 people injured when a massive fire broke out in an oil depot in Sanganer area in Jaipur on Thursday night. Many of the injured are reportedly in critical condition. Two villages in the vicinity have been evacuated and people in one km radius have been asked to stay out. Efforts are still on to douse the fire but is not yet under control.

Murli Deora, Petroleum Minister said, “The fire is massive. We are finding it difficult to douse it.” Deora is on the way to Jaipur.
Medical Superintendent at SMS hospital Dr Ashok Pangudia said 2 persons were brought dead and one was reported to have died in a private hospital. He also added some of the injured had splinter injuries.

There were huge flames in the air amid billowing smoke. Two villages in the vicinity have been evacuated and people in and around the depot panicked fleeing away from their homes. In the radius of 3 km the fire have spread where there is some industrial units and have destroyed them.

Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan Chief Minister, said that the help of the Army is being sought to help douse the fire.

Sources say the fire broke out at the time when petrol was transferred to a pipeline from the depot. It is suspected that there may be a leak in the pipeline, which caused the blaze.
