CSK Vs RCB , Chennai vs Bangalore IPL 3 Match Results, Highlights, Score

Chennai Super Kings held their nerve to finally break their losing streak with a close five-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday. Chasing 162, Chennai had some anxious moments before a late flourish from Suresh Raina took them home with an over to spare.

Murali Vijay got the hosts off to a terrific start and despite Matthew Hayden's dismissal for 12, the opener blasted 78 from just 39 balls in a blistering assault. The right-hander hit four fours and six sixes to set up the run chase, before the Bangalore bowlers arrested their momentum.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings restricted Royal Challengers Bangalore to 161-4 thanks to spinners Shadab Jakati and Muttiah Muralitharan. Jakati bowled the tournament's fourth maiden over as the Chennai spinners choked Bangalore's progress in the middle overs. As a result, Bangalore, despite being off to a bright start, failed to gather momentum towards the end of their innings. The left-arm spinner finished with impressive figures of 2-17 while Muralitharan gave away 21 runs from his four overs.

Jacques Kallis continued his purple patch with a composed 52 and despite the early loss of Manish Pandey, Bangalore continued merrily as Robin Uthappa scored a quickfire 21 after captain Anil Kumble won the toss and elected to bat. Virat Kohli provided support from the other end with a handy 34, but both batsmen fell quickly as Bangalore faltered.

Kevin Pietersen, playing his first game of the league along with Cameron White, scored unbeaten 23 and 21 respectively to lift the Royal Challengers.
