Veterans Day, also known as Armistice Day, is an effort of honoring the veterans of War.1st World War was came to an end after The German signed “Armistice” at the eleventh hour of eleventh day of eleventh month of 1918.

It is a legal holiday in USA both federal as well as State. It was in 1938 when the American president declared it as a National Holiday.

Veterans Day was first declared a holiday in 1938. There are still 25 million living veterans today, so we need to honor these individuals as well as those that have died for our freedom.

The best Veterans Day quote is from Rev. Denis Edward O’Brien from the US Marine Corps:

“It is the soldier, not the reporter,

Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the soldier not the poet,

Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,

Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.

It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag,

Who serves beneath the flag,

And whose coffin is draped by the flag,

Who allows the protester to burn the flag.”

Some more great Veterans Day Quotes are:

“What a cruel thing is war: to separate and destroy families and friends, and mar the purist joys and happiness God has granted us in this world.” Gen. Robert E. Lee

“Anyone who has ever looked into the glazed eyes of a solder dying on the battlefield will think hard before starting a war.” Otto Von Bismark.

“We know more about war than we do about peace, more about killing than we know about living.” Gen. Omar Bradley.

And my my personal favorite:

“The military doesn’t start wars. Politicians start wars.” Gen. William Westmoreland.

This Veterans Day, say “thank you” to any service man or woman you know. Give them these inspirational quotes, as they will surely brighten their day.
