US President Barack Obama has won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. There were a record 205 nominations for this year's prize.
US President Obama Won Nobel prize for his work in giving the world citizens a hope for the better future. He has won for its humanitarian efforts in improving the quality of life for all the citizens of the world.
The laureate - chosen by a five-member committee - wins a gold medal, a diploma and 10m Swedish kronor ($1.4m).
The Nobel Committee said he was awarded it for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples".
Barack Hussein Obama was born August 4, 1961 is the 44th and current President of the United States. He is the first African American to hold the office, as well as the first born in Hawaii. Obama is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he was the president of the Harvard Law Review.
