Has struggled with form and fitness since his move to Barcelona. It’s been a largely forgettable season for Henry so far so he’ll be looking to make waves at Euro 2008 and remind everyone how good he is.

3. Fernando Torres (Spain)

Has had a great first season for Liverpool this year, but will be disappointed with the lack of silverware. Has shown that he can turn a game with his goals. Will be Spain’s focal point in attack.

4. Michael Ballack (Germany)

The legendary German captain has finally found his feet at Chelsea. It was largely thanks to his form that Chelsea stayed in the Premier League race till the last day of the season and went to the Champions League final. Germany will be looking for the same from him at Euro 2008.

5. Fabio Cannavaro (Italy)

Italy’s aging captain and FIFA World Player of the Year 2006. This could be his last major tournament in Italy’s rock-tight defense, and he will be looking to guide his side to a Euro 2008 victory after winning the World Cup in 2006.

6. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden)

Has largely failed to perform at major tournaments so far, but his form in the Italian league for Inter is outstanding. Has won league titles in Italy and Holland, and will look for more silverware at Euro 2008.

8. Petr Cech (Czech Republic)

It may not say much about the Czech Republic if their star player is a goalkeeper, but Chelsea’s Cech is probably the best goalkeeper in the world. He’s bounced back from a head fracture and will be vital in the Czech Rep backline against stronger opponents.

9. Ruud van Nistelrooy (Holland/Netherlands)

Has proved at Real Madrid that he wasn’t a has-been when he left Man Utd. Van Nistelrooy’s goals have fired the Spanish giants to two league titles in a row. He will be their main focus for goals at Euro 2008 as they face a tough group.

10. Aleksandr Kerzhakov (Russia)

He’s yet to become prolific but Kerzhakov is the closest Russia has to a star striker. He failed to make the grade in Spain at Sevilla, and despite speculation of a move to Tottenham and Man Utd, he returned to Russia. Will be wanting to prove his abilities on the big stage at Euro 2008 as he’s still only 25.
